A Blast from the Danish (not too distant) Past

Interesting what you might find when you go back a little in time. I really didn’t want to spend too much time on this Muslims Vs Denmark issue. But while visiting the BBC website I read an article about it. On the right side of the page there was a list of related topics…one of them dated back to August 2005, a month before the infamous cartoons were published.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/4159220.stm

Basically this radio presenter called for the extermination of fundamentalist and violent elements in the Muslim community in Europe, or to expel all Muslim immigrants out of Europe. The radio station had its licence suspended for 3 months as a result, the presenter was charged with breaking the anti-racism law.

Hmmmm, funny how Danish Muslims forgot about this incident while the whipped themselves into frenzy over the cartoon issue. You see it is clear from this report that Danish law enforcement didn’t hesitate to bring charges when it was necessary…when there was a real offence committed.

To anyone who thinks it is fair to use the cartoons to justify a terrorist attack against Denmark, why don’t you ask yourselves why this Danish radio presenter wasn’t excused for making those statements?? After all, when you read the threats made by Hizbul Tahrir, you see that those elements he referred to are posing a real threat to his country, his fellow Danes, possibly his family and himself too. Yet he was charged with breaking the law nonetheless.

Because you see (and listen up Arabs everywhere), in the free world we are all given our freedoms, and we are taught that we are responsible for our own actions and words. There is freedom but there is law and order.

And before anyone jumps down my throat and says “oh so you think Western/white/Christian societies are perfect, do ya?” No, they are not perfect. But there is more awareness here of one’s rights and responsibilities. There really is law and order. There’s always hope things will get better, because at the very least, you have the right to vote and elect someone who will represent you…and you don’t end up with a president or PM who wins with a 99.9% of votes! Hell, you even have the chance to be nominated yourself. You have the right to question your government, to think for yourself and discuss and debate what is important to your community. Trust me; I’ve lived in the Middle East for quite a while. Don’t take our freedoms here for granted.

To Muslims who burnt Danish flags, boycotted Danish products, even threatened them with death and destruction: How short is your memory that you forget how they welcomed you in their country and defended your rights even when some of you wished them harm. Now you want to deny them their rights in their own home?

what should history do with this my friend??

it is their duty to do so, they didn't give us charity, it is our right that no one calls for our extermniation!!!

on the other side, i will give you a nice real blast from the past!!

their queen said that the worst threat to the europe world is islam and they should stop being sensitive and face this danger and stop islam from invading their lands!!

where is religion freedom here??

and by the way, the queen of denmark is still alive, muslims didn't kill her, and no protests where made!!

where did i get this info from?? from the BBS and the website of a danish newspaper who was discussing the issue with real strong concepts saying that the cartoons was a bad mistake and that the queen words was a worse mistake!!

I just hope that your hate for us -which is unfortunately apparent in your speech- don't blind you from seeing that a mistake was done!!

by the way, the court in denmark refused the case about cartoons saying they don't break the law!!

imagine saying that the prophet for 1200 milion person is a terrorist doesn't represent an offense!!!

by the way also, I was of the first to call to use laws and calm down and don't rush to acts before we try the right way, I was deeply disappointed by the result i must say, you can check the posts i made months ago on my blog to know that i am not faking this!! :(

Hi Free Soul and welcome.

What history are you talking about? This just happened a few months ago not a few decades ago.

it is their duty to do so, they didn't give us charity, it is our right that no one calls for our extermniation!!!
Well I'm certainly glad you feel this way. So I suppose you also condemn Anwar ElSadat's statement at the Summit of Islamic Nations when he was secretary of state to Nasser, saying that he promises to eradicate, convert or humiliate all Christian Egyptians? I suppose you haven't heard that in Saudi Arabia it is a criminal offence to gather with other Christians and pray? I suppose you haven't heard that official ID papers in Egypt are mysteriously turning Egypt's Copts into Muslims?

their queen said that the worst threat to the europe world is islam

Radical Islam...not Islam. She said RADICAL ISLAM. Do you blame her? Do you blame anyone for not wanting the face of Islam that is constantly shown to the world: Sept 11, Bali bombings, London attacks, Madrid, suicide bombings, violent protests and burning of buidldings, Christian indonesian schoolgirls beheaded.....and the list goes on.

and by the way, the queen of denmark is still alive, muslims didn't kill her, and no protests where made!!

Let me respond with your own logic: That's her right, she's not alive due to the mercy and charity of Muslims.
I am amazed by this statement that keeps popping up in discussions with many Muslims. Well, the Copts are still alive aren't they? The queen is still alive isn't she?
As if this is an act of mercy on the behalf of the Muslim world!!

The face of Islam that the world sees is the face of those who made themselves equal to God (7asha lellah). They will decide who dies and lives. They will take away rights and grant them as they please. They will always demand and never give in return. That's what the world sees Free Soul. It may be right, it may be wrong...but that's what we see.

by the way also, I was of the first to call to use laws and calm down and don't rush to acts before we try the right way, I was deeply disappointed by the result i must say, you can check the posts i made months ago on my blog to know that i am not faking this!! :(
And I commend you for this, and I respect you all the more. It means you are a sensible good person. Just remember Free; instead of blaming the world for having what you see is a wrong impression of Islam, people like u should try to correct this image.
